Varsity Track & Field (Team captain 2023-2024 Jun)
As a long-time sports enthusiast, I’ve learned that every race is not only a physical challenge but also a mental one. In track & field, I discovered the importance of conserving energy and staying calm to achieve long-term goals, as well as being altruistic, not for self.

(100m Final HSH vs WCIH, 1st place 11.9s, qualified China National Athlete level III (12.4 or less))
I am an official registered athlete who has been running track&field for 3+ years.
I served a year of varsity track&field captain in my middle school, and my personal best for 200m is 25.1 in March 2024 WCIH competition and 11.9 in 100m.
At my school (2020-2024 Jun), Wellington College International Hangzhou (WCIH), the Track&field Interscholastic Competition (WCIH vs HSH HISPAC) took place on March 22nd. As one of the top athletes, I was selected and invited to compete in the 100m, 200m, 800m, and relay events.
Filled with both anxiety and excitement, I began with the long jump. At first, I was apprehensive about jumping into the pit. The distance to the footboard and the subtle breeze above my head made my muscles tense. However, the cheers of my teammates boosted my confidence, and I overcame my fears. With full momentum, I earned the top score in the group—a 5-meter jump. By the end of the day, I had won several gold medals in track and a bronze in the relay.
As a long-time sports enthusiast, I’ve learned that every race is not only a physical challenge but also a mental one. In cross-country, I discovered the importance of conserving energy and staying calm to achieve long-term goals. In cricket, I realized that true success stems from teamwork rather than individual achievement. Standing on the podium as Coach Clamp, Coach McCollum, and Miss Recotondradano cheered and shook my hand, I felt immense gratitude for his unwavering support throughout my journey.
One of the most valuable lessons sports have taught me is that winning or losing isn't what truly matters—it's the spirit of perseverance and never giving up.
