Varsity Cross Country (Team captain 2022-2024 Jan)
And it’s not only the sports that matters, but the stamina we’ve gained during the process in which we sweat and feel the pain. Cross Country taught me how to grow together with my teammates, especially when we are “gasping” and losing our way. I never gave my teammates up even on the toughest challenges.

I am an official registered athlete; I have been running cross country for 4 years, and varsity for 2 years, and served the cross country varsity captain for 2 years. Currently, My personal best for 3km is 9:55, 18:10 for 5k, and 38:41 for 10k (road). I competed at 7 meets this fall and was placed 21th in the Choate invitational competition, 8th in AOF invitational, sub 20s, and soon our varsity team and I will be going to HISPAC and New England Championship xc competition.
(Currently, I run 40-50 miles/week with my fabulous team)
Sports taught me how to grow together with my teammates, especially when we are “gasping” and losing our way. I never gave my teammates up even on the toughest challenges. I am engaging in varsity cross-country, where I firmly believed that one cannot thrive without a team. My best mentor Coach Lea had said: “Go make that long, damn red (my team jersey’s color) lines!” During Hotchkiss Invitational, for instance, my 4 teammates were slightly discouraged by the soaring “killer hills”. To help them combat their fears, I crazily shouted and used body cues to let them pace up. At the last mile, we gloriously overtook tons of runners and shoot up to the finish line.
And it’s not only the sports that matters, but the stamina we’ve gained during the process in which we sweat and feel the pain. My current school has an amazing sport team and coaches, and I truly love each member of our group. They are awesome team members who always try their best and push themselves, a team that always succeed no matter what. Hopefully, I could also make a huge contribution to Exeter's athletics - I’d like to extend my sportsmanship beyond track&field into leadership & collaboration in the future.
I love everyone who runs and wants to run!!!!!!
